Last week I was collecting money, for the British Red Cross, in Sheffield city center. It has always been a nice experience and the main thing is that it FEELS nice!
Your Happiness – When you donate to or volunteer for a charity think about the disabled, flood victims, earthquake survivors, education for deprived kids… people who would benefit from the money/material you gave or collected.
Do you know the feelings/emotions you experience when you contribute are therapeutic and can strengthen your immune system? In today’s life when we experience more negative emotions than positive, how good it is to feel fulfilled and to say ‘I am able to help’ raises your self-esteem 🙂
People these days have £20 to spend on food on a weekend but don’t donate £2 which can buy a dinner for 10 people in the third world. If someone could spend £5 on alcohol than why not 50p for people who have no water to drink!!
Why not buy a self-help book for £8 which would make your life better for long term?
A lot of young people live in debt these days, they spend all their money either on stuff which they can show-off or on alcohol, cigarettes etc… Can you wake them up and ask them to contribute?
About the British Red Cross –
We are a volunteer-led humanitarian organisation that helps people in crisis, whoever and wherever they are. We enable vulnerable people at home and overseas to prepare for and respond to emergencies in their own communities. And when the crisis is over, we help people recover and move on with their lives. Be Human. Contribute. It’s a win-win deal 🙂
